Mission and Goals
The Mission of Historic Harrisburg Association is to “promote historic preservation, urban revitalization and smart growth.”
Our Goals include:
- Maintain a year-round advocacy program that engages and influences all constituencies regarding the importance of historic preservation as a key mechanism for urban revitalization, economic development, neighborhood improvement and tourism enhancement.
- Maintain a multi-faceted education and outreach program that includes free and low-cost lectures, seminars, workshops, guided walking tours and informational exhibits.
- Work with the City of Harrisburg and its citizens, property owners and neighborhood groups to ensure that Harrisburg’s historic districts and architectural landmarks are preserved in keeping with Federal and municipal guidelines.
- Complete the restoration of the Historic Harrisburg Resource Center, enabling it to become a self-sufficient organizational asset that serves the needs of the Association and the surrounding community.
