CHPFHHA gives matching grants for preservation projects

Historic Harrisburg Association established the Community Historic Preservation Fund in 1996 as a permanent endowment to be used for preserving and restoring historic structures in the City of Harrisburg. Through the CHPF, HHA gives matching cash grants for worthy preservation projects.

The CHPF is managed by an independent Council of Trustees appointed by the Board of Directors of Historic Harrisburg Association.

Grant Program (Grants are not being awarded for 2011)
Matching cash grants are awarded for exterior preservation projects. Grants are awarded to individuals, nonprofit organizations, or for-profit organizations on a competitive basis. Only one application per business entity, person and/or family will be accepted in any grant cycle. Only exterior projects will be considered for private dwellings or business entities. Nonprofit organizations whose buildings are open to the public may submit applications for interior projects.

For consideration, a project must:

  • Comply with all applicable zoning ordinances including prior review by the Harrisburg Architectural Review Board (if applicable).
  • Be completed by December 31 of the year in which the grant is awarded
  • Provide documentation to demonstrate that the project has been completed (must be provided as indicated in the grant application instructions).
